I've started using a new phrase recently: "Festival of clowns." Example of usage: "I just sat in a meeting where they discussed things we'd already discussed and decided in the last meeting. It was a total festival of clowns." Feel free to use a time variable with the phrase: "An hour-long festival of clowns." Get more vivid: "A three-ring festival of clowns."
A Google search turns up nothing but, well, actual festivals of clowns and a wine label, so as far as I'm concerned, this phrase is MINE, baby! :) Y'all can share!

Actually, I'm just gonna concatenate it to "clownfest".
I was going to throw in French and German equivalents to 'clownfest', for sounding pretentious or philosophical, but apparently, babelfish has no concept of 'clown' in any language.
