holidailies: the dress, the tree

OK, so if anyone’s still left after Anal Santa…

I’m almost hesitant to write this, as I’m afraid I’ll jinx something. But as of Thursday afternoon, I have a dress for the wedding.

Yup, you read that right — say it with me — I have a DRESS. For the WEDDING. ZOMG!

It’s not precisely what I was looking for…I was hoping for something a little more modern. This is more traditional, and a little more “poofy” than I’d anticipated. But honestly, after looking, I don’t know that I’ve got the figure for modern. I’m hourglass. I may not be modern.

I do know that R will drool, and that’s the goal, right? RIGHT! XD

Now all I need to do is find a seamstress to trim the train off. I feel bad, hacking the train off the dress, but I really, really, really, really didn’t want a train. So off it comes!

The dress arrives in March, which will give me two months before the wedding for alterations. A little close, but doable.

And the tree…
In case you couldn’t figure it out from the entry below, we decorated our tree with some friends on Saturday night. We were sober (no, really!) but got a little punchy as the night went on.

We went Friday night and got our decorations out of mini-storage. Typically, we have them in a whole bunch of boxes. R has had some Christmas decorations passed to him through the years — some are really beautiful, and some are…um…not. We apparently missed a box last year, as we were unpacking some scary things on Saturday that we’d never seen before — a regular 70s Holiday Time Capsule of Fear.

Our tree is full and nice, but the branches are a little weak — we couldn’t put too many of the larger ornaments on the tree. Our friend Keledy decided we had too many left over, so she then took the holiday spirit throughout our apartment. We now have ornaments secreted throughout the house! So far, we’ve found one on a bookshelf, up top…one hanging off a desk drawer…about four on the air vent in our bathroom…and several in our plants. Basically, we’ll be finding ornaments through July. XD Viva Christmas!
